Snickers dates with only 4 ingredients

5 ingredients if you want them to be slightly sweeter, by adding some maple syrup or vanilla extract. These are so incredible delicious, and so much healthier than regular sweets. They are gluten free and with no added sugar, and they keep well in the fridge. You can also freeze them, so you should make a huge batch and stick in the freezer. That way you’ll always have a great snack at hand.

Yeah, and did I mention they are delicious? Oh my, I could eat and eat …

See bottom of the recipe for tips to other variations of this great snack.

Snickers dates with only 4 ingredients

Ingredients to approx. 15 pieces:

  • 15 large dates, preferably Medjool
  • 0,5 cups (100 ml) smooth, runny peanut butter
  • handful of salted peanuts, about 2-3 peanuts per date
  • 200 grams dark, vegan chocolate
  • Optional: 1 tsp vanilla extract or 1 tbsp maple syrup (or both)

This is how you do it:

Remove the pits from the dates. Line a plate with plastic foil or parchment paper so the dates won’t stick to the plate.

Mix the peanut butter with vanilla and/or maple syrup if preferred. Place a tbsp peanut butter into each date and add 2-3 peanuts. Close the date and place them on the plate. When all dates are filled, set the plate into the freezer while melting the chocolate. When the dates are ice cold or frozen, the chocolate will harden in seconds, and the chocolate layer will be thicker, so this is a nice trick.

Melt the dark chocolate and dip the dates into it. Place them back on the plate. You can sprinkle on some chopped peanuts for decoration if you want. If so, do it before the chocolate hardens.

Almond: use almond butter mixed with some maple syrup and chopped, toasted almonds

Nougat: use a vegan hazelnut chocolate spread and toasted, chopped hazelnuts

Orange: use a vegan chocolate spread mixed with some shredded orange peel. Decorate with orange peel

Bacon dates: fill the dates with vegan cream cheese (preferrably with garlic or chives or some other spices) and vegan bacon bits and bake them in the oven at 400 F for about 15 minutes or so. Soo good.

Use your imagination. 🙂
